cooking a book :: add one heroine...
My friend Emily has a little girl called Wynnie and I think it the cutest name. The Wonder Years used to be one of my favourite shows as well. Wynnie for me is short for Gwendolyn. And I learnt sooo much about her in particular from my collage.I usually know very little about my heroines as I dive into the story as I find it most fun to discover things the same way the reader would. As they occur. Wynnie and I have a long way to go yet...

When you eventually name 'Whatshisname!' will you try to match his name with Wynnie?? I mean, do you sit at your desk and say pairs of names until you find two that go together well?????
That is what I am imagining you do, whilst popping a few M&Ms....

I haven't heard the name Wynnie is a good many years. We used to have a blind lady come to our church and preach whose name was that.
I love the name Wynnie contrary to other comment on here. It is so pretty and sweet. Innocence it says to me. My brain ain't working - it is late at night.
God Bless.

Hey 2Paws! I sure do try to make sure the names match. And the hero's surbname has to sit well with the heroine's first name too! Do you remember Drew Barrymore's character Julia in The Wedding Singer? Her original finance's name was Gulia. So she would have become Julia Gulia. Best not to impose that on a poor heroine!!!

Hey squiresj, thanks so much for loving the name! I really like that it's kind of old-fashioned and sweet as you say. It makes sense to me that her mother would have loved that name.

Ally I do remember the Julia Gulia possibility!! Names have power. My name is a flibbertygibbet's name, and I could never be PM with my girly name. Sigh!!!
The Wedding Singer is one of the films I always have to watch to the end, no matter what, to make sure it ends right each time. Other films I HAVE to watch include You've Got Mail, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Sleepless in Seattle, Double Jeopardy, P&P and North and South the ABC (Australian) versions and The Shawshank Redemption just to mention a few. I am afraid if I don't watch, the story will go all awry!!!!
Oh, I am glad my imaginings are real!!
