So I'm so excited that I was asked to be the inaugural blogger for the Pink Heart Society's new monthly column, Pets and Their Authors!

I live in a menagerie within a leafy suburb riddled with wildlife and we ain't done yet - what with the backyard to handle it, a love of fish and fur and flying things, and  a husband who loves them even more.  So it was great fun to talk about the pets of my life, now and then.

And I didn't even get to these little fellows scattered about the garden!

This is the office of my dreams.

The space, the peace, the tone on tone colour palette, the lux fabrics and the view over a Hamptons beach. In fact I'd give a kidney to live in the entire house from Something's Gotta Give.

Unfortunately I ain't a movie character.  I'm a mum and a writer on a deadline and my "office" is less spartan, and more needs must.

What with the advent of DVDs and and the arrival of two children in the past two years, I don’t get to the movies much anymore. So when our best friends recently gave us a gift of two Gold Class movie tickets, my hubby and I jumped on the chance to get out of the house!

I’d never done the Gold Class Cinema thing before, but now, I’m not sure how I’ll ever appreciate regular cinema viewing again!

For those of you who are as slow to catch onto Gold Class as I was, here's how it goes -

- express queuing for tickets
- a private lounge with private waiters
- a full three course menu to choose from
- the choice of three separate times throughout the movie to have your food hand delivered. (We had chocolate and masala mousse with berry compote and double cream, then coffee, then choc-top ice creams, a must have at Aussie cinemas!)
- a personal escort to your lush, reclining lounge chair seats
- only 24 people per session
- nobody sitting in front of you

We had to see something that had to be seen on a big screen. Both being big James Cameron fans, we saw AVATAR. Oh my...

Adam Tyler was my first ever attempt at a darker hero. But looking back now he's just as much of a puppy dog as all my heroes ;). Here's a little taste test of Cara Marlowe's impressions when she meets our guy for the first time...

Cara sat upright on the plain simple chair as she waited for Jeff to return. She stared down at her red shoes which glistened prettily back at her. And she winced. Jeff had walked ahead of her the whole time and she was sure he had not even glanced at her feet once.
But the guy in the foyer had. She was sure of that. In fact she was sure he had compiled an internal data file of every inch of her, so intense had been his gaze. It was all she had been able to do to keep her footing. New shoes or no new shoes. A guy like that would make any rational woman’s knees go weak without even trying.
He had dark wavy hair, intense blue eyes, a solid build, hands that looked as though they could play the piano and change a light bulb. He was a hunk and a half. She wondered briefly what he was doing there, waiting in the foyer where those involved with the new secret show had been told to wait.
What if he was the single guy? The one she might have to style? She pictured him in his immaculate suit with his glossy shoes and his expensive haircut. If he was the one, her job would be redundant. If he was the one, she would have nothing more to do than straighten his tie, and run her hands through his hair just before the cameras rolled.
The thought of getting so up close and personal with that particular gentleman made her suddenly uncomfortable. She shifted in her seat, then gave a little laugh out loud. What need would a guy like that have for going on a dating show? He was gorgeous. The strong silent type. She imagined a wave of horror rolling across those deep blue eyes at the mere suggestion.
An alarm went off somewhere in the building and Cara clicked to, remembering she was meant to be preparing for the most important job interview of her life. That was what she should have been focussed on, not daydreaming about the exact shade of some stranger’s blue eyes.

Being that a month of celebrations should be on the cards for any birthday, over at the Pink Heart Society, the home for lovers of category romance, the Li'l Pink Dancing Guy is getting just that.

I've given him this lovely warm pink sheepskin hat. Cute no? It matches the warm bed socks I gave him last year. Yes, yes, I am a chilly little thing, and he does look so very cold himself. That's why I think he's always jumping!
